This advanced acid-replacement descaler is designed for cleaning in place (CIP) and manual descaling of marine process equipment, removing inorganic scale from plate heat exchangers, evaporators, coolers and fresh water generators without aggressive mineral acids.
Application: Marine process equipment incl. plate heat exchangers, evaporators, coolers, fresh water generators
Use: Cleaning in place (CIP) circulation or manual immersion cleaning of scaled components
Use type: Routine or periodic descaling during maintenance operations
Product specification
Application area
Marine process equipment requiring scale removal, including plate heat exchangers, evaporators, coolers and fresh water generators
Purpose
Removal of inorganic scale from process equipment as a safer alternative to traditional mineral acids
Targets
Calcium carbonate and other alkaline mineral scale deposits formed during operation
Format
Liquid acid-replacement descaling treatment formulated for CIP and manual cleaning applications
Packaging
20 litre jerry cans as standard. Other pack sizes available on request
Dosing
For CIP cleaning, typical starting dilution is 1:9 in water, circulated for 3–4 hours. Concentration and contact time may be adjusted depending on scale severity
Overview
Biotal AR 3000 PE is an advanced eco-benign® acid replacement developed for descaling marine process equipment during both cleaning in place (CIP) operations and manual maintenance.
It delivers performance comparable to sulphamic acid and removes more scale than phosphoric acid, while avoiding reliance on highly corrosive mineral acids such as hydrochloric acid. The formulation includes built-in degreasing surfactants, enabling effective scale removal even where oil and grease contamination is present, without requiring a separate degreasing step.
AR 3000 PE also contains a colour indicator that allows operators to monitor descaling activity during extended cleaning operations, supporting controlled and optimised treatment programmes.
Benefits
Suitable for CIP circulation and manual immersion cleaning
Effective alternative to traditional mineral acids for marine descaling
Built-in degreasing eliminates the need for a separate degreasing step
Includes colour indicator to monitor descaling efficiency
Not classified as harmful to the environment - 100% biodegradable formulation

Our products are designed for environmental responsibility
Eco-benign® formulations
Designed to perform effectively while breaking down to natural biomaterials that are biodegradable in treatment systems and the environment.
Reduced reliance on aggressive chemistry
Replaces or reduces the need for corrosive mineral acids, solvents and caustic treatments traditionally used on board.
Lower environmental impact by design
Formulated to avoid the environmental hazard classifications associated with traditional acids and heavy chemistry.
Gentler on marine environments
Focuses on biodegradation and controlled breakdown of waste, rather than simply lowering oil levels without regard for wider toxicity
