Overview
Biotal Marine Professional Descaler is based on a low pH organic salt designed to replace traditional mineral and organic acids in scale removal applications, reducing harmful environmental effects.
The formulation delivers high scale removal performance, with activity approaching that of strong acids such as hydrochloric acid, while remaining non-corrosive to skin and mild steel.
It is significantly more effective than many conventional alternatives, including phosphoric acid and common organic acids such as citric or glycolic acid, while avoiding associated environmental concerns.
The inclusion of surfactants enhances performance further, allowing the product to work effectively even where scale is contaminated with oils and grease, removing the need for a separate degreasing step.
Benefits
Delivers acid-level performance without corrosive hazards
Removes limescale and mineral deposits with high efficiency
Effective even in the presence of oil and grease contamination
Reduces need for separate degreasing products
Safer to handle than traditional acid-based descalers
Fully biodegradable and environmentally responsible

Our products are designed for environmental responsibility
Eco-benign® formulations
Designed to perform effectively while breaking down to natural biomaterials that are biodegradable in treatment systems and the environment.
Reduced reliance on aggressive chemistry
Replaces or reduces the need for corrosive mineral acids, solvents and caustic treatments traditionally used on board.
Lower environmental impact by design
Formulated to avoid the environmental hazard classifications associated with traditional acids and heavy chemistry.
Gentler on marine environments
Focuses on biodegradation and controlled breakdown of waste, rather than simply lowering oil levels without regard for wider toxicity
